Graduation ceremonies held at several Hampton Roads universities

It was graduation day for several universities in Hampton Roads: Norfolk State University, Liberty University and Regent University.

NSU’s graduation was held Saturday morning at the Norfolk Scope .

Nearly 1,000 graduates walked across the stage to receive their diplomas.

Graduates heard from  U.S. District Judge Susan Wigenton.  Wigenton is an NSU alumna and was appointed to the bench by President George W. Bush in 2006.

Regent University also held its graduation Saturday.

Regent’s Founder, Chancellor and CEO, Dr. M.G. “Pat” Robertson greeted the crowd and spoke to graduates.

Dr. Jay Sekulow, chief counsel of the American Center for Law and Justice was the commencement speaker.

Nearly 1,000 students walked in the ceremony.

At Liberty University, former Florida governor Jeb Bush delivered the commencement address.

The potential GOP presidential candidate is courting support from the Christian-base, a powerful wing of the party.

Saturday was the last day of graduation ceremonies at Old Dominion University. Between Friday and Saturday  more than 2,700 Monarchs received their degrees.

Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe was one of three speakers who addressed the class of 2015.
