Good Seed Inc. of Springfield, Va. has recalled its soybean and mung bean sprouts because they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, according to a report from WTVR via the Virginia Department of Agriculture.
“The organism can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections to individuals with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women,” Virginia Department of Agriculture officials said in a news release.
These items were distributed to stores in Virginia, Maryland, New Jersey and North Carolina, the report says.
