Man pulls knife during theft from Newport News Walmart

Newport News, Va. - Newport News Police are looking for a man who pulled a knife on several Walmart loss prevention agents after being approached about concealing items in a backpack.

The incident occurred on May 15th at the Walmart located at 6111 Jefferson Avenue. Police say loss prevention agents saw the man pushing a shopping cart loaded with food items.

The man was then seen in the clothing section putting the items into a backpack.

The agents approached the man and requested he return the items. The man produced a knife, refused to return the stolen items then got on a bicycle and rode away toward Jefferson Avenue.

The suspect was described as a black male wearing a blue plaid shirt, dark pants, a black stocking cap, and last seen riding a light blue bike northbound on Jefferson Avenue.
