Four arrests made in Suffolk drug bust

Suffolk, Va. – Four people were arrested Thursday when the Suffolk Police Department Special Investigations Unit and the Neighborhood Enforcement Team executed a narcotics search warrant on a home in the 2000 block of Meadow Country Road.

Inside the residence, authorities discovered a marijuana manufacturing operation was being conducted. They seized 129 marijuana plants, a significant amount of heroin and items related to the distribution of marijuana.

They also seized approximately $25,000 in cash, approximately $26,000 in gold bullion, eight vehicles estimated at $46,000, and electronics, extravagant clothing and other household items at an estimated value of $9,000.

Bank accounts in the estimated amount of $11,000 were also seized and frozen.

Four people were arrested during the search warrant execution.

  • William Thomas Smith, IV, age 52, of Suffolk, arrested on charges of Fail to Appear out of Southampton County, Possession with Intent to Distribute Heroin
  • Christopher Andrew Salkey, age 31, of Suffolk, arrested on charges of Fugitive from Justice South Carolina – Possession with Intent to Distribute Heroin, Manufacture Marijuana for Others to Use, Possession with Intent to Distribute Heroin
  • Teresa Zobeida Fritts, age 28, of Suffolk, arrested on charges of Manufacture Marijuana for Others to Use, Possession with Intent to Distribute Heroin
  • Garth Andrew Salkey, age 64, of Suffolk, arrested on charges of Possession with Intent to Distribute Heroin, Possession with Intent to Distribute Heroin While in Possession of a Firearm, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.

The investigation is ongoing and additional narcotics and firearms charges are pending.
