A police officer in Gautier, Mississippi was driving in stormy weather on Tuesday when lightning struck the road right in front of him and was captured on his dash cam.
Sgt. Mark Rodriguez was traveling down Interstate 10, according to WLOX in Biloxi.
Sgt. Rodriguez told the station he was driving over the Tchoutacabouffa River when the lightning bolt hit the bridge.
The intense close-up flash nearly blinded him, Rodriguez said.
When Rodriguez returned to the spot where the lightning hit the ground, he found a chunk of singed concrete.
