Virginia Beach, Virginia - A man is in custody after rear-ending a state trooper and leaving the scene of the crash.

A State Police vehicle was rear-ended  on the interstate around 4:20 a.m. by a person driving a red Subaru.

The trooper was in the safety work zone on I-264 eastbound at Rosemont Road in Virginia Beach when the crash happened. Police say the trooper was struck by a 2005 Subaru station wagon.

The driver has been identified as 53-year-old Anthony Deanes of the 2900 block of Old Glory Road in Virginia Beach. Police say Deanes fled the scene and was located and taken into custody a short time later with the assistance of Virginia Beach police.
