Two face prostitution, drug and assault charges after incident at Newport News motel

Newport News, Va. – A man and woman from Mt. Olive North Carolina face multiple charges after being arrested at the Newport News In at 12880 Jefferson Avenue on May 29th.

At around 8:55 P.M. police responded to motel for a report of a disorderly person. A 55-year-old York County man told the officers that he had met with 23-year-old Emily Michelle Rice for a sexual encounter.

He said that during his conversation with Rice a man intervened, implied that he had a gun and made threats.

Rice was charged with one count each of keeping a bawdy place, possession of schedule I narcotics, possession of marijuana and prostitution.

Police also charged 36-year-old Jerry Clemont Armstrong with one count each of assault (misdemeanor), possession of schedule I narcotics, possession of marijuana and keeping a bawdy place.

Both were placed in the custody of the Newport News City Jail.

No injuries were reported in the incident.
