Virginia Beach Police officer indicted for fraudulently obtaining prescription drugs

Virginia Beach, Va. - A Virginia Beach Police officer has been indicted for fraudulently obtaining prescription medication.

Virginia Beach Police Department's Special Investigations Unit was contacted by an emergency room physician on April 23rd regarding a person that they believed was obtaining prescription medication fraudulently.

An investigation revealed that the person, identified as 29-year-old Virginia Beach Police Officer Harry M. Kepart Jr., obtained prescription medication from a medical facility on April 19th after being denied a prescription for the medication by the emergency room physician on the same day.

An indictment was issued on June 1st for Obtaining Drugs by Fraud.

Kephart was served with the indictment on June 2nd and received a $1,000 secured bond.

Kephart will remain on administrative assignment pending the outcome of the criminal and administrative investigations.
