Suffolk, Va. - A house fire displaced eight people in Suffolk early Thursday morning.
Fire crews received a call about a two-story duplex fire in the 100 block of Chestnut Street around 4:44 a.m.
Upon arrival, officials say electrical arcing and smoke filled the duplex. Within an hour, the fire was put out.
The fire rekindled at 6:21 a.m., and then was put under control at 8:07 a.m.
The cause of the fire came from electrical problems, officials say. Dominion Virginia Power also responded to the scene.
Eight people have been displaced and are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
Market Street is currently closed between Pine Street and North Street. West Washington Street is open.
No one was injured.
The Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
