Portsmouth, Va. - Today in Portsmouth, NewsChannel 3 will learn more about the case against a mother accused of killing her baby.
Joy Brown is charged with first degree murder.
Friends say her baby's death was an accident.
"She was trying to come down the stairs too, and the baby fell and hit her head. It was an accident."
The cause of death for the baby has not been released.
Brown will be in court today for a preliminary hearing.
