Middlesex Co., Va. – On Sunday, June 7, 2015, Virginia State Police responded to a fatal crash in Middlesex County.
The victim has been identified as 24-year-old Mark Alexander Moore of the 8000 block of Ellendale Lane in Mechanicsville, Virginia.
It happened at approximately 3:40 a.m. on Sunday, June 7, on Route 604 (Nesting Road) east of Route 648 (Montague Island Road) in the Nesting section of Middlesex County. State Police say a 2007 Honda S2000 left the roadway and struck a group of trees.
The vehicle was occupied by the driver, Daniel L. Kastner, and passenger, Mark Alexander Moore.
Kastner was transported from the scene by ground to VCU Medical Center in Richmond, police say. The front seat passenger, Moore, was killed as a result of the crash and pronounced deceased at the scene by EMS, NewsChannel 3 has learned.
The Division 5 reconstruction team responded to the scene in support of the investigation.
No charges have been placed at this time as the investigation is ongoing, police say.
It is undetermined whether or not speed or alcohol were factors in the crash. Both drivers appeared to be properly restrained, according to police. Notification has been properly made to family members.
