Suffolk, Va. - The Suffolk Police and Suffolk Department of Public Works are currently on scene in the Hollywood neighborhood near downtown Suffolk due to a large tree that fell across the roadway blocking traffic in and out of the immediate area, officials tell NewsChannel 3.
Emergency Communications received a call at 1:11 a.m. advising of the downed tree in the 400 block of Hollywood Avenue, which has also caused a power outage to the neighborhood. Crews from Dominion Virginia Power are also on scene, and approximately 180 customers are currently without power in the area. Dominion Virginia Power crews are anticipated to be on scene until 1:00 p.m.
The large tree has since been moved from the roadway but Public Works crews are still in the process of removing the debris. Suffolk Police say traffic is now moving in and out of the neighborhood via a single lane.
