Employee injured during robbery at Newport News McDonald’s

Newport News, Va. - A McDonald's restaurant located in the 12400 block of Warwick Blvd. was robbed early Monday morning, according to police.

A black male, dressed in all black with what appeared to be a t-shirt wrapped around his face, entered the business around 5:00 a.m. through a side door, pointed a handgun at a female employee and demanded money, police say. The suspect got an undisclosed amount of money from the business and then fled from the scene.

One of the employees injured her leg when she escaped through the drive-thru window and two other employees hid in the freezer during the robbery. The employee with the injured leg was examined at the scene by medics.

The suspect is described as a black male with a medium complexion, approximately 5’8-6’01, medium/average build.
