Portsmouth, Va. - It has been six days since the body of a missing Portsmouth mother of two was discovered in the woods near her apartment complex, but still the cause of her death is a mystery.
As Portsmouth police work to find out how Katie Barham disappeared and died, neighbors in the Preston Trails apartment complex are feeling uneasy in their own homes.
"I have become a little bit more cautious. I look left and right now whereas I used to just go and come back," said Leenel Hinton, one of Barham's neighbors.
Hinton isn't the only one; several neighbors told NewsChannel 3 on Tuesday that until police release how Katie died and if someone is responsible for her death, they are lying low and looking over their shoulders.
"I'm hoping that it was an isolated incident," says Hinton.
It is unclear when police will know how Barham died. Right now her death is still just being considered suspicious.
