Hampton, Va. – Police are investigating the burglaries of two churches on Big Bethel Road in Hampton.

On June 8, 2015, police officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of Big Bethel Road in reference to a burglary.

Police say an unknown suspect or suspects forced entry into Harbor Baptist Church. The suspects removed an undisclosed amount of money and fled the scene, police say.

Then, on June 9 at 8:11 p.m., officers responded to the Grace Baptist Church located in the 1400 block of Big Bethel Road in reference to a commercial burglary.

Officers arrived and found that between the hours of 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on June 7, suspects had broken into the church building by prying the front door open. However, it appears that the suspects fled the church without taking anything. The investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made at this time.

At this time, both incidents are being investigated. Police say although the possibility exists that they are related, it cannot be confirmed at this time.
