Newport News, Va. – A motorcyclist has died as a result of a crash in Newport News, police tell NewsChannel 3.
At 3:49 a.m., Virginia State Police were called to the scene of the crash in the westbound lanes of I-64 near the 253 mile marker in Newport News.
Police say a 2001 Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling west on I-64 and heading into a work zone when he ran into the back of a construction vehicle.
The commercial vehicle was a large truck equipped with an arrow board and a crash “cushion.” The truck was parked in the work zone and unoccupied.
The impact of the crash caused the motorcyclist to be ejected. He died at the scene. Virginia State Police have identified him as 36-year-old Nathan W. Hall.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
