Police officer shoots at dog while executing search warrant in Norfolk

Norfolk, Va. - A police officer fired a shot at a dog Thursday morning during the execution of a search warrant, police tell NewsChannel 3.

Shortly before 6:30 a.m. Thursday morning, the Norfolk Police Special Operations Team and narcotics detectives executed a search warrant at a home in the 200 block of West 28th Street.

As officers entered the home, they were confronted by a large dog who charged aggressively toward them, according to police. One officer fired a shot at the charging dog. The dog quickly retreated back, unharmed, police tell NewsChannel 3.

At the completion of the search warrant, three people were detained for questioning. Firearms and narcotics were recovered inside of the home.

There were no injuries reported.
