Norfolk, Va. – A Norfolk woman was hiding inside of her home while she says a burglar was still inside.

This happened in the 1400 block of Kempsville Road.

The woman called 911 at around 6:30 p.m. and waited for police to arrive.

When officers arrived, they saw a man who fit the description, and they set up a perimeter.

They ordered him to come out of the woods and he was then arrested.

The suspect has been identified as 24-year-old Ervin Powell. They say during the arrest, Powell did not cooperate and was apprehended by a Norfolk Police K-9.  He was treated for minor injuries.

Powell is now being charged with burglary and attempted petit larceny.

He already had a warrant on file for burglary.

Powell is now being held at the Norfolk City Jail without bond.
