Two arrested in Norfolk double shooting incident

Norfolk, Va. – Two men have been arrested in a June 26th shooting that left one man dead and another man injured.

Police say around 3:30 a.m. that morning, officers were called to the area in the 800 block of West 36th Street for reports of numerous gunshots.

During a party at the location, an argument ensured, and multiple gunshots were heard.

At 3:35 a.m. a 34-year-old man entered Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with what appears to be non-life threatening gunshot wounds. He remains in the hospital at this time but is stable.

At 3:40 a.m., Anthony L. Long, 27, entered Children’s Hospital of the Kings Daughters with what appeared to be a serious gunshot injury. He later died as a result.

Norfolk Police detectives have arrested 31-year-old Kendall H. Hines Jr. and charged him with Second Degree Murder for the death of Anthony Long. He has also been charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Shooting into an Occupied Vehicle, and Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony.

Detectives have also arrested 21-year-old Edmond J. Johnson and charged him with Malicious Wounding for the shooting of the 34-year-old man. He has also been charged with Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony and Shooting into an Occupied Dwelling.

Both, Hines and Johnson, are held in the Norfolk City Jail with no bond.
