Virginia Beach, Va. - A 68-year-old man died after an accident while riding his bicycle in Virginia Beach on Thursday afternoon.
Police say this happened in the 2300 block of South Independence Blvd.
They say Bert C. Rizzo was riding his bicycle in the eastbound in the westbound lanes of South Independence Blvd. He passed a 2003 Ford Expedition that was going westbound. Rizzo made a right turn and hit the vehicle which caused him to fall into the street.
A 2008 Chevrolet Impala was behind the truck and could not stop. The vehicle ran over Rizzo.
Rizzo was pronounced dead at the scene.
Speed and alcohol were not factors.
No charges are expected.
