Norfolk, Va. -A 73-year-old woman has died after she was involved in an accident on Brambleton Avenue on Wednesday involving a Norfolk Fire and Rescue vehicle.
The accident happened at the intersection of East Brambleton Avenue and Landing Street around 3:30 p.m.
Officials say the rescue vehicle was going east on Brambleton Avenue when the Dodge pulled out from Landing Street in front of the truck trying to make a left turn to go in the westbound direction.
"She's coming out, he hit her. And the truck went this way, her car," says Black Sekou, a witness.
The woman was taken to the hospital where she later died. No one else was inside of the vehicle.
She has been identified as 73-year-old Daisy M. Riddick of the 900 block of E. Virginia Beach Boulevard.
The worker driving the Norfolk Fire and Rescue vehicle suffered minor injuries and was treated on the scene.
Norfolk Police Traffic Fatality Team is actively investigating this crash, and once the investigation is complete, their findings will be forwarded over to the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office for review and determination of charges.
