For July, it could be worse. In fact, it looks like it will be worse.
But we’ve enjoyed six straight days of below-normal high temperatures at Norfolk International Airport. (Our official reporting station.) And the cold front that moved through on Wednesday will guarantee we’ll extend our streak to eight days!

Why? Clouds and rain have helped keep our July high temperatures in check. Plus, a dip in the jet stream has helped usher in some milder weather over the last week. Even so, our average July temperature, which looks at both the daily high and low, is still running 0.6 degrees warmer than normal.

And forecasters at the Climate Prediction Center warn that it’s going to be a steamy end to July. They are forecasting warmer-than-normal conditions for the next few weeks.
