Norfolk,Va.- Dance 4 a Cure, Inc. presents the 1st Annual Hampton Roads National Dance Day.

Working along side the Norfolk Department of Public Health, Dance 4 a Cure has come together to educate the community on good health and how to reduce the obesity rates in the Hampton Roads.

This energetic event will be taking place Saturday, July 25th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Palm Garden Restaurant located at 5957 East Virginia Beach Boulevard in Norfolk.

The event will be full of dance demonstrations, health education workshops, and you will be able to get your blood pressure checked.

The first National Dance Day was launched in 2010 by Nigel Lythgoe, a former producer of Fox Television’s American Idol; co-creator and co-executive producer of Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance, and co-founder of the Dizzy Feet Dance Foundation. That same year, Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) introduced a resolution to the U.S. Congress to adopt National Dance Day to promote dance education and physical fitness.  The first Washington, D.C. observance was staged on the National Mall.  Hampton Roads Dance Day will be the first in Virginia.

This event is free and open to the public.
