Virginia Beach. Va. - A possible funnel cloud was spotted just off the Virginia Beach Oceanfront Friday morning.

The National Weather Service had issued a special marine warning for coastal waters from Cape Charles Light to the Virginia-North Carolina border out to 20 nautical miles that expired at 7:45am.

At 7:11 am Doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a waterspout and winds 34 knots or greater located over Virginia Beach Oceanfront. The severe thunderstorm was nearly stationary.

Thunderstorms can produce sudden waterspouts that can easily overturn boats and create locally hazardous seas.
