Newport News, Virginia -Two men were shot while walking in the 700 block of 36th Street around 12:30am Thursday morning, according to Newport News Police.
Police say officers in the area of 39th Street and Marshall Avenue heard several gunshots coming from that area and moments later dispatchers began receiving calls of a shooting.
Officers located a 22-year-old man who had been shot in his upper leg and a 40-year-old man who had been shot in his lower back.
Both men were transported to the hospital and their injuries are considered to be non-life threatening .
Police say they are receiving conflicting information as to the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
