Portsmouth, Va. - Antwan L. Wiggins, 33, of Norfolk, died early Sunday morning after he was shot in the 1100 block of Mount Vernon Avenue.

Around 2:45 a.m., Police found Wiggins suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper part of his body. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Close friends of Wiggins tell NewsChannel 3, he was outside the London Oaks apartment complex with friends and family leading up to the shooting. While he was from Norfolk, friends say he visited London Oaks frequently. They say he was married with children.

"It all happened so fast, I had just went upstairs and before I could lay down and actually pull the covers over me, that's when I heard gunshots," says a friend, who wishes to remain anonymous. "Maybe it's the wrong person because he's a family person, he loved his family."

There are no suspect leads at this time.

The Portsmouth Police Department's Major Crimes Unit is investigating this incident.
