Child seriously injured after jet skis collide in Virginia Beach

Virginia Beach, Va. - Two people were injured Saturday evening when the jet ski they were riding collided with another jet ski.

It happened just after 5 p.m.  on the Lynnhaven River near Inlynnview. Police say one jet ski slowed down, and the other jet ski slowed down to avoid them, but the two collided.

According to police, one of the victims was a child under thirteen years old.

Neighbors tell NewsChannel 3 it was a six-year-old girl, and all four people riding the jet skis are family members.

Police say the child was flown to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.  The adult's injuries are considered non-life threatening.

The crash remains under investigation by members of the Marine Patrol Unit.
