Newport News, Va. - Two people got into an argument on the way to a child's birthday party and now the woman involved is behind bars.
Police arrested 35-year-old Chesia L. Killins and charged her with abduction, grand larceny, felony child neglect, misdemeanor assault, public intoxication, and petit larceny.
Police say this all started when Killins and a man were on their way to a birthday party. He told police his 2-year-old son was also in the car when the two of them started to argue on 30th Street and Wickham Avenue.
The man stopped the car and told Killins to get out. She refused and the man got out of the car and walked to the passenger side to get her out of the car.
Police say Killins moved to the driver's seat, pushed the man out of the car and drove off.
Authorities found the vehicle in the 600 block of 30th Street.
They say Killins and the child had gotten into another car driven by another woman who was unaware of what was going on.
The child was returned to the father and police arrested Killins.
She is now in the custody of the Newport News City Jail.
Police say Killins and the man are only acquaintances and are not in a relationship. The child is not related to Killins.
