Chesapeake, Virginia - A person is was injured after a car hit a power pole and knocked it down in the 2800 block of Indian River Road in Chesapeake, according to Chesapeake Police. That location is between Campostella Road and Military Highway, near Wingfield Avenue.
The accident happened just before 4:30am and caused a power outage for over 300 customers in the area.
Police say when they arrived on the scene, they were unable to assist the driver due to the live power lines in between the vehicle and the rescuers. After the power lines were removed, the driver was rescued. That person sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
Eastbound Indian River Road has completely reopened and one westbound lane is now open to allow traffic through.
