Man accused of leading police on chase, crashing into fence in Chesapeake

Chesapeake, Va. – A man is in custody after police say he led them on a chase in Chesapeake.

Police initiated a traffic stop on Berkely Avenue and Partridge Avenue.

They say the driver,

, did not stop and that’s when the pursuit started.

The chase ended at 1100 S. Military Highway when they say the crashed the vehicle into a chain link fence. He then got out and ran but was apprehended.

No one was injured.

The passenger was questioned and released.

The officer stopped him for defective equipment on the vehicle.

Klemstine has been charged with defective equipment, driving on suspended license, and felony eluding police.

No other information has been released.
