James City County, Va. – One man is dead and another has been seriously injured in a crash in James City County.
This happened just after 8 p.m. in the 9500 block of Richmond Road east of New Kent County/James City County.
Officials say a 2000 Plymouth Neon was speeding on Richmond Road when the driver lost control causing it to run off the right side of the road into an embankment and then into a tree.
Police say two people were inside of the car at the time. Neither person was wearing a seatbelt and both were ejected.
James Terrell Cowles, 47, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 31-year-old New Kent County man was flown to the hospital with serious injuries.
Police have not released the identity of the driver.
