Man flown to the hospital after a crash on Route 58

Suffolk, Va. – An 80-year-old man was flown to the hospital after an accident on Route 58 Saturday afternoon.

Around 2:15 p.m., Police were called to the 4100 block of Route 58 at Holland Road near Pioneer Road where a Toyota pick-up was wrapped around a tree.

The 80-year-old male was flown to Sentara Norfolk General by Nightingale with serious injuries. He was the only person in the vehicle.

Crews closed the road for several hours, but reopened it for all traffic around 4:30 p.m.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
