The National Weather Service has issued a flood advisory for the southwestern City of Chesapeake, the City of Suffolk, the City of Franklin, southwestern Isle of Wight County, and southeastern Southampton County until 9:30 p.m.
A flood advisory is in effect for northwestern Pasquotank County, northwestern Currituck County, northwestern Perquimans County, eastern Gates County, north central Chowan County, and Camden County until 7:30 p.m.
A flood advisory is in effect for Hertford County, Bertie County, Northampton County, central Gates County, and northwestern Chowan County until 7:45 p.m.
Heavy rain from incoming thunderstorms is expected to cause minor flooding in low lying areas.
A few rounds of showers and storms are expected to continue Thursday evening through Friday. Some of the rain could be heavy at times, producing minor flooding. Gusty winds and frequent lightning are also possible.
The entire area could see 2″ to 4″ of rainfall over the next two days.
