Virginia Beach, Va. – A Virginia Beach man was charged with a DUI after he rear-ended a Virginia Beach Sheriff’s Office van transporting inmates to the Virginia Beach Correctional Center and courthouse early Thursday morning.
Two deputies and three inmates suffered minor injuries while they were travelling at 45 mph when a grey 2015 Kia Forte rear-ended them at the intersection of South Independence boulevard and Nesbitt Drive around 6:20 a.m.
Mikul A. Brown, 26, of the 3800 block of Rica Drive in Virginia Beach, was charged with DUI first offense and released on a $2,000 secured bond, as approved by a city magistrate.
Each inmate was taken to the hospital for evaluation and released back into the custody of the Correctional Center. The two deputies were evaluated and released as well.
