Virginia Beach, Va. - A man is fighting for his life after he was shot in Virginia Beach.
This happened on Monday night in the 3600 block of Wetherington Drive.
When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the back.
He was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Witnesses say a man pulled up wearing a black mask and started shooting.
"I know that many kids were playing. We heard a couple of gunshots, about six or seven. I ran and got all the kids to make sure everyone was safe," says Tonya Blackman, a witness.
She says about nine kids were outside across the street at around 7:30.
"I don't think they really knew what was happening, but I knew what was happening and I just kind of grabbed them. Once they seen the fear I had, and I guess it kind of shook 'em up a little bit," says Blackman.
No other details have been released.
