Man convicted of first-degree murder in Norfolk sentenced to 33 years

Update: Javontay Jones was sentenced Friday, November 20th to 53 years in prison with 20 years suspended. 


Norfolk, Va. – There’s been a conviction in a murder case featured in our Taking Action Against Crime report.

Prosecutors tell us 22-year-old Javontay Jones was convicted of first-degree murder in a bench trial this morning.

Jones was charged in the November 2011 shooting death of Darelle Williams.

That happened on A Avenue.

A sentencing hearing is scheduled for November.
