Tracking showers and storms….Stay VIPIReady! We’re tracking scattered showers and storms over the next couple of days, due in part to a cold front off to the west. A few scattered showers and storms are in the forecast this evening ahead of the front. Some of the rain could be heavy at times. Otherwise, expect partly to mostly cloudy skies and lows in the mid 70s.
The cold front will sweep through the area Thursday, giving way to scattered showers and storms. Some of the storms could be strong to severe. Heavy rain, minor flooding and gusty winds will be the primary threats, specifically by Thursday afternoon and evening. Otherwise, we’ll see partly sunny skies with highs in the upper 80s and lower 90s. Rain will likely continue overnight into early Friday morning. But by Friday afternoon, our forecast models are trending drier, setting us up for a little sunshine for part of the weekend. A couple of isolated showers and storms are still possible though. Highs on Friday through the weekend will be in the mid 80s.

Thursday: Partly Sunny, Scattered Showers/Storms (50%). High temperatures in the upper 80s and lower 90s. Winds: SE 5-10 mph.
Friday: AM Showers (30%). Then, clouds and sun. High temperatures in the mid 80s. Winds: N 5-10 mph.

Tropical Storm Danny continues to slowly move west over the open waters of the Atlantic Ocean. The storm is located about 1300 miles east of the Lesser Antilles. Over the next few days, the storm will generally move to the west-northwest, likely becoming our first hurricane of the season by Friday. The storm is expected to move over the Windward and Leeward Islands by Monday as it weakens back into a tropical storm. We’ll continue to keep an eye on Tropical Storm Danny is the Live VIPIR Forecast Center.
