Suffolk, Va. - Update: Nicholas Thompson plead guilty to two separate assault and battery charges against his mistress, Tiffany Valentine. He will be serving two years in jail.

When he assaulted her, Thompson was also charged with strangulation. That charge was eventually amended to "unlawful wounding," and he was directly indicted.

Former Suffolk police officer has Nicholas Thompson been arrested and placed on unpaid administrative leave after being accused of strangling and abducting his alleged mistress.

Police have charged 34-year-old Nicholas Mark Thompson with several felony and misdemeanor charges including abduction and strangulation. Friday, court documents revealed the victim was a woman he lived with named Tiffany Valentine.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Suffolk’s Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court, Valentine told police she and Thompson were in a fight when he grabbed her by the neck and started choking her, almost making her black out. The arrest warrant says Valentine then ran to the bedroom to get away and that’s when Thompson came in with a gun in his hand and pointed the gun to Valentine’s head. The criminal complaint showed Thompson had several bruises and scrapes and that Valentine’s neck was so swollen she had to go to the hospital.

The information was found in Nicholas Thompson arrest warrant filed in September. Then, Ida Thompson told police her husband used his police-issued gun, pointed it to her and threatened her life.

Thompson also pressed charges against Valentine, after she claims the alleged mistress assaulted her and threatened to “slice her throat open.”

At that time, Nicholas Thompson and Tiffany Valentine were placed on administrative leave but came back to work after the charges were dropped at the wife’s request.

At that time, Ida Thompson filed for a divorce against her husband. In the documents filed, she says he admitted to being in an affair with someone for five years. The Thompsons have two sons together.

Officials say there will be criminal and internal affairs investigations.
