NORFOLK, Va. - A 56-year-old woman was taken to the hospital after being hit by a car.
Norfolk Police say they were dispatched to 8401 Tidewater Drive at 5:37 p.m.
The incident was originally dispatched as a hit-and-run because the 19-year-old driver left the scene of the crash, according to police. However, the circumstances are now under investigation.
The teen told police that the family of the woman assaulted him and took his phone, so he fled the area to call police himself.
The woman was taken to Norfolk Sentara General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
