Abandoned vehicle found on Jordan Bridge; Authorities searching for possible jumper

Chesapeake, Va. – A heavy police presence was on scene at the Jordan Bridge Friday morning due to reports that a person may have jumped from the bridge.

The situation is NOT affecting traffic on the Jordan Bridge at this time. The police presence on the bridge has cleared and all lanes are open.

Chesapeake Police, the United States Coast Guard and the Norfolk Naval Shipyard are all deploying boats to assist in the search.

Police received calls around 6:05 a.m. reporting the possible jumper, Portsmouth Police Detective Misty Holley tells NewsChannel 3. 

When crews arrived on the scene, they found an abandoned vehicle on the bridge.
