Washington D.C. – Kirk Cousins has been named the starting quarterback of the Washington Redskins for the 2015 season, Redskins head coach Jay Gruden announced Monday.

“We feel that at this time, Kirk Cousins gives us the best chance to win and that’s where we’re going,” Gruden said.

Cousins was drafted by the Redskins in the 2012 NFL draft.

He has spent the last three seasons as Robert Griffin III’s backup, starting in 9 total games.
