Hurricane Fred strengthens as it impacts the Cape Verde Islands. Fred is centered about 35 miles south of Rabil in the Cape Verde Islands. Fred is moving northwest at 12 mph. It will impact the Cape Verde Islands today then continue into the open waters of the Atlantic.
