Fire damages Chesapeake shopping center

Chesapeake, Va. – A Chesapeake shopping center was evacuated Friday afternoon due to a fire.

Firefighters were called to the shopping center at 1315 Western Branch Boulevard at 1:10 p.m.

Crews arrived to find burning shrubbery next to a building that had spread into the shopping center. The fire was under control at 1:31 p.m.

Damage to the building was limited to one unit occupied by Connect Hearing.

All businesses are expected to reopen shortly.
