Virginia Beach, Va. – Thousands were without service Saturday afternoon after balloons got caught in a power line at the Oceanfront.

Dominion Virginia Power spokesperson Rob Richardson told us that balloons left 2,219 customers in the dark at 36th & Pacific Avenue around 3:40 p.m.

He said the balloons had mostly burned away by the time crews arrived.

Dominion remotely reset the transformer restoring service in right under an hour.

The outage primarily impacted businesses and street lights.
