Portsmouth house fire displaces two

Portsmouth, Va. – Heavy flames were seen spewing out of a home in the Craddock neighborhood of Portsmouth around 11:00 a.m. Saturday morning.

Chief Hoffler with Portsmouth Fire says the back of the 2-story home located at the intersection of 8 Cushing Street & Alden Avenue was completely engulfed in flames by the time crews arrived.

The home is uninhabitable, leaving two residents displaced. Both residents evacuated the home safely.

It took crews about thirty minutes to control the fire. No word on a cause.
