Suffolk, Va. – One man was hospitalized and seven people displaced after a fire at a home in Suffolk early Tuesday morning.
Emergency Communications received the call at 1:44 a.m. and the first units arrived on scene in the 1600 block of East Washington Street in downtown Suffolk at 1:47 a.m.
Firefighters found smoke showing from the exterior of the single story residence. The occupants had evacuated prior to their arrival.
The man was ground transported to Sentara Obici Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. No firefighters were injured.
The fire was confined to the kitchen and was called under control at 2:45 p.m.
Three adults and four children have been displaced as a result of the fire and are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
