Virginia Beach, Va. – Landstown Middle School is holding a ribbon cutting ceremony for their new outdoor classroom.
The ribbon cutting ceremony will be held on September 14 from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The project is a joint effort between Landstown Middle and the PTSA.
The new classroom is 14,000 square feet and has seating for forty, a chalkboard, flower garden and multiple vegetable beds.
The goal of the classroom is to provide students with learning experiences involving energy, resources, and sustainability.
Local farmers, landscape architects, horticulturists, chefs and other professions that have careers related to the concepts taught in the classroom will work with students.
Several businesses and community members have helped with the project, including: the VBCPS Educational Foundation, Home Depot, Kohl’s, Optima Health, Lucky Oyster, Virginia Tech, TCC, Klar Orthodontics, LifeTouch, Vo Tech, Chili’s, Ben Builds, Steam Pro Carpet Care, and Seagreen Lawns, Inc.
The ceremony will be in the garden behind the school by the bus loop.
