Job Corps information session comes to Suffolk

Suffolk, Va. – The Suffolk Workforce Development Center is holding a Job Corps Information Session on September 23.

The event starts at 9 a.m. at the SWDC on 157 North Main Street on the second floor of the building.

The session covers many technical professions, including: automotive technology, CNA/LPN, culinary arts, electrician, health careers, landscaping, office administration, painting, pharmacy tech, plumbing, welding, security, and more.

Suffolk and Franklin residents ages 16 to 24 are welcome to go to the session, which is free to the public.

Males should wear a button or polo shirt, slacks, a belt, and shoes.  Females are asked to wear a dress or skirts/slacks with a blouse with shoes.

The Job Corps requests that those attending do not wear jeans, sneakers, or shorts.

This is the first step in the admissions process for people interested in the Job Corps Program,

“Job Corps is the nation’s largest career technical training and education programs for students ages 16 to 24.”  says Diana Klink, Director, Media & Community Relations for Suffolk. “It provides low-income men and women with an opportunity to gain the experience they need to begin a career or advance to higher education at no cost to the student.”
