Norfolk, Va. - Detectives have made an arrest in the case of a double shooting that happened on September 9.
Police arrested 23-year-old James Carter-Pristell in relation to the shooting death of Couran Poole.
Police tell News 3 that Carter-Pristell was the other victim who was shot.
On March 3, 2017 Carter-Pristell pleaded guilty to one count of Voluntary Manslaughter and one count of Possession of a Firearm bu a Convicted Felon.
He was also sentenced to six years of active time to serve in prison for the convictions.
Detectives believe the two were in a gunfight that ended with Couran Poole's murder.
Carter-Pristell has been charged with second degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
Police responded to the two gunshot victims at 1:20 p.m. on September 9 after a call of shots in progress on 9100 Pinedale at Dudley.
Carter-Pristell was found suffering from a gunshot wound at 9100 Pinedale.
Police then discovered another victim, 19-year-old Coraun Poole, in the 600 block of Leichester.
Poole and Carter-Pristell were taken to Sentara Norfolk General.
Poole was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Neighbors say they heard four or five shots. "I said, 'He is dead. He ain't getting back up.' They were pumping on him, pumping on him, but he didn't get up, and I didn't see him move," said one neighbor.
Carter-Pristell is being held in the Norfolk City Jail without bond and will be in court on Thursday.
