Hampton Roads, Va. – We are tracking three areas in the tropics.
1) Tropical Depression Ten is strengthening in the Eastern Atlantic. TD 10 is about 905 miles W of the Cape Verde Islands and moving WNW at 8 mph. Winds are near 35 mph with some strengthening expected. TD 10 could become a tropical storm tonight.
2) Tropical Depression Nine is about 945 miles ENE of the Lesser Antilles and is moving slowly WNW at 6 mph. TD 9 will likely weaken to a remnant low Saturday, with no threat to land.
3) We are watching an area of low pressure area just east of northern Florida and southern Georgia. There is some potential for this low to develop into a subtropical or tropical cyclone during the next few days as it moves northeast off of the Carolina coastline.
